A model of learning excellence, Mat-Su Career & Technical High School offers students nine career pathways in addition to a comprehensive high school experiences. CTHS welcomed Senator Lisa Murkowski and Mat-Su Borough Mayor, Vern Halter, on a tour. Mark Okeson is CTHS principal and Jim Simmons, assistant principal. Also pictured is senior class president, Lucas Arthur, who is headed to MIT next fall, and Superintendent, Dr. Monica Goyette. Two hundred sixty MSBSD students from middle and high schools participated in the Alaska Construction Career Days at the Alaska State Fairgrounds. Hands-on activities included welding, surveying, electrical wiring, carpentry, drilling, and more. Two hundred seventy-five students from 34 teams/16 schools participated in this year's Elem Science O. Competing in 17 STEM events, students spent an entire day in hands-on activities. Read more... Dr. Goyette has served the District for 18 years as a counselor, teacher, and school principal. For the past four years, Dr. Goyette has been at the District office as Executive Director of Instruction. For the 2015-2016 school year, she was hired as the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.In making the appointment of Dr. Goyette, the School Board is confident that the work and dedication to student learning and engagement remains high.
